Notice to Wafco Mills Owners: Let’s Work Together for a Cleaner Community
February 28, 2025
Written by Joy Watson, Wafco Mills HOA President
Dear Wafco Mills Owners,
We’re reaching out with a friendly but important request: the public trash cans along Fulton and McGee Streets are being overloaded with residential garbage. These bins are meant for public use—like litter from a walk—not household trash bags. When they overflow, it affects the whole College Hill Neighborhood, and we’d love your help to turn this around. As owners, you’re responsible for guiding your tenants to use the designated cans on Wafco Lane instead. Condo living isn’t a full-service setup where everything’s handled for you—it takes your involvement to keep our shared spaces working well for everyone.
We’ve had reports from onsite owners, including photos of overflowing bins, some showing evidence tied to specific units. Here’s how we’ll handle it: if misuse is traced back to your unit, you’ll receive one warning. If it continues, a fine will be added to your account. We’d rather not go down that road, so please take a moment to kindly share this helpful information with your tenants and neighbors (we know an owner would never ….:) about proper trash disposal and why it matters to our community. Your effort here can prevent fines and save us all from extra management costs down the line when these reminders start coming with a bill. Thank you for helping.
A quick heads-up for your tenants, neighbors and whoever needs to know:
No commercial trash, yard waste, or construction debris belongs in the Wafco Lane cans. If it doesn’t fit, it’s not meant to stay.
For bulk items, the White Street Landfill at 2503 White Street, Greensboro, NC 27405, is the place to go (more info at greensboro-nc.gov).
We’re also planning a garbage enclosure to better manage all of our trash, recycling and bulk items, and we’ll share the start date as soon as we have it. In the meantime, please step up—chat with your tenants, and neighbors, share the rules, and help us keep Wafco Mills clean and welcoming. Ownership means pitching in, and we’re counting on you to make a difference.
Thank you for your support,
Joy Watson
Wafco Mills HOA President
Please note: Each unit at Wafco Mills is assigned one primary parking space and one additional unassigned space, both located either in front of your unit, or in the white-painted parking spots marked with your unit number and letter or "RESERVED" in white paint. The yellow-painted spaces are reserved exclusively for Historic Wafco Mills parking, please don’t park there. Historic Wafco Mills HOA President, Bryan Crean, will notify me and after one warning your unit will be fined $100. Your vehicle may be towed, by Historic Wafco Mills at your expense. Additionally, please do not dispose of trash in the Historic Wafco Mills dumpsters across Cedar St, as this prompts complaints, photos and videos or our residents or their unit identifying trash, from Bryan as well. We want to be good neighbors to our Historic Wafco Mills Neighbors.
